Saving Water One Tushy At A Time

We got a Tushy Bidet! I am far too excited about this secondhand find. When I learned that bidets actually *save* water, trees AND money, I knew it may be time to set aside my reservations and reconsider. But, bidets are gross, right? Well, as Tushy puts it – you wouldn’t just wipe off poo if it got on your arm. Why would you do the same anywhere else? Maybe not using a bidet is more gross?

Here are a couple other considerations that changed my mind.

  • 37 gallons of water go into making a single roll of TP (so the bidet, which uses about a pint per wash, actually saves water. You will use 80% less TP!)
  • 27,000 trees are cut down every day to make TP (our recycled TP from Who Gives A Crap helps save trees, but there are still chemical emissions involved in manufacturing and shipping products)

So many natural resources gone to waste! Once I became a little more open to the notion, I popped onto FB market place to see if I could find one secondhand (after using what we have and borrowing, secondhand is always my go-to). I hoped for one new in the box given the nature of the item (I’m not above a little sanitizing, but you know…).

And I found one! A Tushy Spa, new in the box for less than half the price. The seller bought it during the pandemic TP shortage and never ended up using it. We installed it today and I don’t think I’m ever going back. I’ll keep you all posted on what we think a little down the road!

Here’s a highly reviewed Amazon option it you want something quick, highly reviewed and budget friendly.

Definitely check out second hand sites too! I saw many for sale on FB Market place.
